Set up message processing
- 32-bit address device: all messages pre-processed automatically (ie Kinéis protocol is applied), without any user action
- 28-bit address device: messages not pre-processed automatically. User must declare an applicative codec on the Kinéis Services Portal to trigger message pre-processing and have the Kinéis protocol applied.
Device address | User action on the Services Portal | Service Center management |
32-bits | No user action required | Messages pre-processed automatically |
28-bits | Applicative codec declared | Messages pre-processed |
No applicative codec delcared | No message pre-processing |
How do I know if my address is 32 or 28 bits?
Count the number of digits in the device address
- 8 digits: 32-bits
- 7 digits: 28-bits
Declare an applicative codec
- Click on the Applicative Codec view to display details about the device codec, and click the pencil button to edit.
- The only codec we currently recommend using is the KIM1 Standard codec.
Codec | Message processing |
KIM1 Standard | Integrity check, error correction, Message Counter |
Raw Standard: deprecated Explorer: Kinéis reserved |
Adapt the hardware set up to the codec
- To comply with the codec KIM1 Standard, KIM1 devices must be configured with the command
AT+FMT=1.
Codec | KIM1 HW set up |
KIM1 Standard | AT+FMT=1 |
